Chosen by God

Passage: 2 Kings 2: 1-15 and Ephesians 1: 3-6

Do you know anyone who has sought to adopt?  A costly venture and quite possibly, you may not know who you are adopting (especially in the case of foreign adoptions), The cost is enormous, the wait may be excruciating, and you will no doubt have to seriously and lovingly work on a relationship with your adoptee.  Similarly, or not, our Heavenly Father knew exactly who He was calling, and adopting, to be His child.... each of us...and He called us by name, even before the beginning of the world.  Painfully, He was aware that the cost of our individual adoptions would be that His Only Son, our Lord, would give His own life for ours.  So:  He knew us, He selected us and knows what we are capable of to further serve His Kingdom. In the Scripture passage, Elisha asks for a "double portion of Elijah's Spirit."  If given three wishes from a genie in a bottle, what would you ask for?   Perhaps the things that would best allow you to further His Kingdom:  The Holy Spirit, Wisdom, and the ability to Love His people.
