Freedom to Worship

Passage: Ex. 7:16, 8:1 & 20; 9:1 & 13, 10:3 and 2 Cor 3:17

We just celebrated Veteran's Day, a day to thank those who have served to protect our freedoms, or what we understand as our personal freedoms.  Freedom to vote, to worship, to do what we want within reason...We still need law and order to protect us; we need laws traffic laws, judicial laws, you name it.  So, we are free, but if we were totally free without laws or considerations of others, oh boy... we must keep those laws in mind.  Think back to the time of the Israelites who were enslaved by the Egyptians.  The referenced scriptures in Exodus are from God, all saying:  "Let My People Go so They Can Be Free to Worship Me."   Remember our earlier historical times, when the Pilgrims came, hoping to find freedom to worship here in this land.  Move forward a bit:  our military continues to fight to gain others' personal freedoms.  But!  Go all the way back to Adam and Eve, who, as the first couple, sinned and in the process caused each and every one of us to be born of a sinful nature that each one of us would pay with our own lives.  We can't help ourselves; now, only God's plan of Salvation, by the blood shed by our Lord Jesus Christ to save each and every one of us, will give us our freedom to worship HIm.  Jesus Christ is the Great Veteran who died in the war against sin.
