Pruning, (or cleaning) is necessary to make the vines, branches, tomato plant, stronger and produce better quality produce.  Believing in Jesus, and allowing him to be "the vine" to produce the nourishment we need to bear fruit.  Fruit for the Lord God; reaching out to people, letting them see Christ in us, following the commandment to "Love one another."
